(A chalazion is a lump in the eyelid that is caused by inflammation of a gland within the skin. Typically, this lump grows over days to weeks and is occasionally red, warm, or painful.
The gland involved in the formation of a chalazion is a modified sweat gland that lies within the eyelid. This gland produces oil. When this gland becomes blocked, it can rupture and the inflammation process begins.
Inflammation is a process in which the body reacts to a condition and produces a biologic reaction. This reaction can cause swelling, redness, pain, or warmth.
A chalazion is not a sty. A sty can resemble a chalazion in the sense that it is also a lump in the eyelid. However, a sty involves glands and eyelash hair follicles that are closer to the skin surface of the eyelid. In addition, a sty is usually more painful and looks infected.....)

I diagnosed myself as having chalazion in my left lower eyelid. Its been there for ages now. I even thought of having it removes by minor surgery I&D.
It happened that I have to assist a doctor for doing this I&D for a patient who has twins chalazion in his rt lower eyelid.
It was gross & bloody and I have second thought of having to go through the same thing.
The next day the patient came back for F/U & he felt contented and he asked me when I would get mine removed and I told him that I will passed and dropped the idea altogether. He was like COME ON you don't hear me screaming right...I just laughed and replied, "it was grossed and bloody." He advised me that It will be just fine. Hey, what do you know? I got an advised from a patient. I shall think abt it.
I have actually when to consult my family GP but it turned out that the pus had hardened. However the doctor did tried to poked it with a needle just to proof his words. It was bloody and my vision turned blurred..till I have to tell him off...and stopped...
Thinking of my own experience and my pt's experience make me shiver in horror...
HELP ME!!!!!!
